Barcelona, still day 1

...So began the first day, which for me ended up being way way more than 24 hours long...

After dropping my stuff at the apartment, we go had coffee and croissants and caught up a little on each other's lives. Then we went back to the apartment to wait for Nisha to get back from shopping. Miguelangel suggested that we go to the famous "Quatre Gats" restaurant, where Picasso and his buds used to hang out. Nice place.

Then Nisha and I went for a Gaudi walk. First we saw Casa Battlo, across the street, keeping an eye out for a store that would sell me a disposable camera. So I have no pictures of it but here's a Gaudi page so you can see his cool apartment building with a roof that is a dragon's back and balconies that are skulls....

Then we went to see Casa Mila, aka La Pedrera---Spanish for "the rock quarry"--- so named because the entire facade is carved stone. When I'm rich, I want to live there. I still had no camera, so I can't provide pics, but the Caixa Cataluna which now owns the building has a great site about it. The roof is incredible, with all the elevator and ventilator and stair tops transformed into sculptures, and no hard edges or corners to be found. Colored tile, broken bottles, carved stone.... Gaudi was a genius.

On to the Sagrada Familia, the Coolest Building in the World. And here are my pictures:
