year. wow! i was so right. poppa sano is still asking for the party to
return... in his own words. "bring back that trash mountain crap." who
are we to disagree? So plan on future good times in the totally
undisclosed location of Yoder, Oregon
Like Michael Jackson said it's HiStory
(I wouldn't bother reading it, its more so that we can remember what
happened to us)
2005
- 8/27 Peppercornapalooza: a Benefit for the Village
Free School
- 7/23 Iron Artist III,
Wonder Ballroom (124 NE Russell, just W of MLK) [Electricky] - The
premier timed sculpt-off event of the season. big bucks to the cause
that spawned.
- 6/25 Multnomah County Bike
Fair. . Portland. apparently awesome
- 5/28, Amnesia Brewing, on Mississippi (across from the
ReBuilding Centers north end, you know, where SCRAP used to be)
[Acousticky] - after the Portland Innovations
Bike Ride.
- 5/27
Monsters of Bike Rock return, Acme, SE 8th and Main: meh! what should have been
my last show! why didn't he "Get
Out" when he could? I mean he could have lived like a king at bikesummer in LA Who will
take the title, "Portland's Worst Drummer"? Who will update the friggin
website, i mean, who will update it less frequently?
- 5/14 Alberta Art
Hopstarted with bike boys and girls rolling in from all over town:
Ben and Izarra tandomizing, revphil and Sara drumming in her green
sidecar platform bike, Timo taking a tour of Portland starting in West
Gresham and ending with a sofa in an alley north of Alberta on 21st.
Strangely, Wes only had a Bob Trailer. You know your band is serious
about bikes when the guy with a trailer has the least to carry. Thanks
to the SCRAP art space a respectable business that suffered with the TMB
very well. Our hot biker engines (Sarah, Sara, and Izarra) hauled the
boys all day with great fortitude (both of the legs and ears). We vow to
play more shows where folks are only able to hear us for 30 seconds
before we roll on. Everyone was loving us, except for the chopper cops,
who seem to give give even law enforcement a bad name. Telling people
that they are not safe in an empty street... sounds like a threat.
Basically, "You are not safe because I am here."
Both Sara and revphil (old beaten down critical massers) have learned
the hard was that some battles are not worth fighting. Still we rocked
on down the road (occasionally in sync) and met up with those March
Fourth. More importantly we were being paid in Mic-a-lobe Light beer
(wow, its actually good!) and gift certificates (totaling nearly $100)
to play in the street! And unlike the at Lucky Lab, we might be asked
back!!
- 5/11 Clarence of bikeTV from
New York says we helped generate a "great response" from viewers who saw
the recent episode on Portland's bicycle infrastructure and culture.
Featured in this episode was the Bicycle
Girlfriend video, also known as the blackest mark on revphil's
singing career. Clarence was not specific as to whether the response was
"great" meaning positive, or "great" meaning lots of people are
complaining. We couldn't be happier.
- 5/10 we practiced at the Pheramones den. without Ben! crazy! but it
worked.
- A long time passes. did something happen here?
- 2/13 Worst Day of the Year Ride a fundraiser for the
CCC,
For 3 years running this historically nasty day of winter was warm and
sunny (although it did hail briefly after the ride was over). Finally we
got to play a gig with Last Regiment
Syncopated Drum Corp, who are still awesome. Alas, our acoustic set
was far too powerful for the bewildered servers at the Lucky Lab as
revphil's performance of "bicycle girlfriend" caused them to come
running out of the kitchen.
Also notable, was the drum set consisting of a wood bench kick drum,
cookie tin snare glass pitcher symbol, pint hi-hat, along with spatula
and serving spoon drum sticks, which caused much wincing and sour looks
from the otherwise-entertained audience. Next time Phil will play the
bongos, or else.
- 1/20 SCRAP The Regime Nocturnal a benefit show for SCRAP. Finally all the shake
your naughty thing bike music is all under one roof: Show Me the Pink,
The Pheramones, and the Sprockettes. Come celebrate another four years
of resistance with us.
- 1/5 on KBOO 90.7 FM Are you
listening to your community radio? we rocked The Bike Show with Ayleen and
Sara at 9am! Sara was disheartened to learn the true meaning of "Road
Pizza"... its not about scavengers, but it is about flat meat. Thanks to
the Kboo engineers for getting us on the mic
2004
- 12/10 Midnight
Mystery Ride to Scrap. badass. girls in hulahoops. wicked
quantities of adult beverages. Someone cleaned up. Thanks.
- There was probably an event we did in November... see THIS is why we
have a website. It's like an improperly formatted log... the kind
beavers refuse to touch.
- 10/6 BikeSocial at Urban GrindCoffee 2214
NE Oregon (2 blocks North of Sandy Blvd)
- 9/25 @ Iron Artist 2004 a FUNdraiser for SCRAP with March Fourth,
TheDivided,
DJ Safi and the Sprockettes! We were forced to
make art rapidly cause we had matching outfits. We won the best use of
theme award: flight, and helped make 5 grand for the brave little
nonprofit that could. I always wanted to play the Disjecta.
- 9/19 @ Car-Free
